Volunteering with Hive Radio

Community Arts Project North East and Hive Radio is always looking for volunteer support for our projects and programmes. We have a variety of roles from administration to presenting.  Our radio schedule includes a mix of Interviews, Features, Audio Drama, Spoken Word and Music. Hive Radio is committed to and passionate about making radio shows that people want to listen to and in championing their cultural heritage. Hive Radio is internet based so can be accessed by anyone, anywhere in the world with an internet connection.  We use Airtime software to schedule and programme our output and we need a volunteer to help us in maintaining this aspect of our work.  The software allows us to upload all of the audio content and then to programme it into the schedule for the coming week. Full training and on-going support will be given.  We are ideally looking for individuals from the South Tyneside area with an interest in broadcast media, radio in particular, and with a confident approach to technology and computer-based software systems, however if you are prepared to travel you would be most welcome to enquire.  We are flexible with regard to the day and time that the right candidate is available.

“Volunteering at Hive has helped me to develop a lot of practical skills, particularly to do with editing and social media management, but has also on a more personal level helped me to better appreciate regional identity and the importance of some of the brilliant community projects in our area.”
